Active Energy Solutions was founded in July of 2006 by Jonathan (myself) and Tamara (my wife) Hook.
I have a background in electronics and graduated from Radio College of Canada in 1995. I currently operate in the winter season as a snowplowing contractor in North Bay, Ontario. See www.mistersnow.ca
The idea for Active Energy Solutions came after a few years of curiosity and interest in the idea of going off grid for electricity. In the spring of 2006, after much research and buying components, a solar array was assembled at our house. Once built and on display, many people would ask about it. Turns out more people are interested in this technology that I originally thought. Armed with enthusiasm, knowledge and experience, I decided to sell systems and do consulting. Energy Alternatives Ltd. in B.C. took interest in this startup and offered a dealership to Active. This relationship also offers Active access to experienced system engineers, very knowledgeable sales people and a complete line of products and components.
Since then we have also been qualified as the local dealer for the Enerworks Solar Water Heating Appliance. This is a great product which allows homeowners to invest in their future while reducing their monthly energy costs in a real way. There is more information available here on our website.
